Princess and the Frog (2009)
Just when you thought Disney had completely converted to CGI animation (a la Pixar), they turn back the page and deliver a new hand-drawn animated film, The Princess And The Frog, set to hit theaters in December. While the previews look a bit too kid-friendly for my taste, I'm glad to see that Disney is going (literally) back to the drawing board for this one. Their efforts at CGI, while entertaining, pale in comparison to Pixar's masterpieces, and it just has seemed silly for Disney to keep trying to compete with itself (since they now own Pixar). They are ...
Planet 51 (2009)
When we sent to see in theaters 2 weeks ago, we saw a hilarious preview about an upcoming animated movie called Planet 51. I'd seen the preview a month or so ago, but had almost forgotten about the film until seeing the preview again in theaters. Watching the calm aliens stare in horror at the rather silly-looking astronaut making his dramatic jumps to plant the American flag cracked me up all over again, and that scene continues to make me laugh each time I watch the trailer again. If that's what in store for the rest of the ...

Alice in Wonderland (2010)
I almost never choose what movie I'm going to go see for my birthday in March this far in advance, but when I heard that Tim Burton was teaming up with Johnny Depp and Helena Bonham Carter for the live-action Alice In Wonderland - and it was coming out March 05, 2010 - I knew what movie I am going to see for my birthday next year. While some may have hated the quirky update Depp and Burton did with , I enjoyed the new take on the classic - especially the quirkily updated Willy Wonka, played to bizarre perfection by ...
Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs (2009)
We had seen previews for the new animated film Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs last September, and had been interested in seeing if the film could live up to the interest garnered from those, but decided to wait for the DVD to find out for sure. This week, we received the film in the mail, thanks to our Blockbuster subscription, and were happy to give it a chance. Since we hadn't read the children's book by Judi Barrett since we were kids, we weren't quite sure what to expect, but hoped the hilarious previews were a good example of ...
